In short

In this talk, in Hungarian, I argue that the workplace of the future is wherever you want it to be. By 2035 there will be a billion people working from anywhere. I share what more than ten years of freelancing taught me about remote work, where a town like Békéscsaba fits in, and which skills the next generation needs.

By 2035 there will be a billion location-independent workers on the planet. Freelancers, digital nomads, sole traders, and even office workers who work from home one day a week. It is a group that is hard to draw a line around, and its members have only a few things in common: all of them are independent in some way, and all of them already take part in a global market for knowledge.

But do the careers people simply call “internet jobs” really own the future? Where is the place of a town the size of Békéscsaba on a New York to Singapore axis? And what skills does the next generation need to clear these old and new hurdles?

I am a freelance marketing entrepreneur, a creative, and born and raised in Békéscsaba. In more than ten years of freelancing I have seen every side of remote work, the good and the bad.

Launching a campaign from Japan across three continents, working as a travelling writer and editor with a Californian startup, building my own marketing consultancy: whatever remote work can look like, I have tried it. I believe that the future of work, and even its present, does not live in dull office blocks. Thanks to the internet, we can work from almost anywhere, and on the things we really want to work on.
